Down, Set, .... HUT!

The leaves are starting to change colors; the nights are beginning to become cooler. The wasps and bees are feisty and so are the Luther High Football teams. Yes, it's that time of the year again.

For all you sports fans, this will be a great blog, for all the rest of you, it might not be as interesting, but, please read on. The oldest three Hansen boys are doing great in their gridiron campaigns.
To begin with, Ben, Erik and Josh all play for Luther High. Ben on Varsity, Erik on the 9th Grade team and the JV team, Josh on the 8th Grade middle school team. They all start. Ben starts both ways - center on offense and right defensive tackle on defense. Erik starts at strong side linebacker and as wide receiver. Josh starts at weak side linebacker and full back on offense.
If you would like to see some varsity pictures - I can't put them up on here - please check this following link: http://www.photoreflect.com/pr3/thumbpage.aspx?e=4065660 It belongs to "Just Buttons," a photo site owned and operated by the dad of one of the Luther High football players. He is a very good photographer and gets good pix. This link gets you to the Varsity Team's photos at their various games for this year. Luther's winless, but playing hard and competitive. Look for #54 on Luther - that's Ben. Luther's colors are black and white with gold trim. So, check it out. Ben's on many pictures.
I'll put a picture or two of Erik here. Josh too. Erik is #44 on Luther. Josh is # 30. I'll group them below. The boys sure are fun to watch and cheer on. The Varsity is 0-4, JV is 1-3, 9th Grade is 2-3 and the 8th Grade is 1-0. Erik's pictures are against Rushford Peterson High School - a perennial powerhouse (Luther won 36-26). Josh's pictures are from a Scrimmage vs. Winona Cotter. Josh won his only game so far vs. Rushford Peterson 20-0.

Josh's pictures...

Josh is at the bottom of the pile, under the blue shirts. He caused a fumble and the ball is in mid air in front of blue #59

Another Josh picture... he is the far defensive lineman getting into the backfield. He got the tackle for loss behind the line of scrimmage. It was sweet for him because this Cotter team consisted of his former team mates from Winona Youth Football who have now given him grief for playing for Luther.

One more pix of Josh: Our #30 going out to "battle".

Now for Erik's pictures.... This game was great for Erik - as most have been. He had a really great tackle in the beginning of the game. He also had an interception which he was returning untouched for a touchdown but the referee said that he couldn't advance it -- a bunch of hooey. We were playing in Rushford.

Another Erik picture... Erik and defense having made a great defensive stand and the "Little General" leads his team off the field.

Last Erik picture.... Erik getting a drink with a former Winona Youth Football team mate and sophomore Andrew H. What's cool about this picture is that littlest bro Samuel is checking out Erik. Didn't realize this at the time, but how neat this is!

Hope you enjoyed the pictures. We're really hoping that the varsity can get a win. We're in a new conference this year .. the Three Rivers Conference of Minnesota. We're in the north division. The teams are tough and many of them played in the state championships for various classes. So, Luther's work is cut out for them.

We pray that all the boys play to the glory of God and that his arms of protection care for all of them.
