What! A Blog By the Hansens?

Alfred Lord Tennyson once said, "Better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all."

I would guess that Tennyson's quote applies to blogging too.  Our family isn't necessarily "winning" at blogging, but we're giving it a shot.  It's been a while since we've really updated things and put pictures up, but believe you me, it's been a real hoot around the Hansen Hacienda and time has been short.

So, I've got some time right now... let's blog.

Since the end of Jamuary and Cindy's blog, life has sped up even more. We've had basketball tourney after basketball tourney for Katy and her St. Matthew's Tigers.  They didn't necessarily win, but they sure had fun.  One tourney was at Luther High School; another was at MLC in New Ulm, MN, on a blizzard weekend.  The girls lost their first two games and were automatically eliminated, but didn't really seem to care too much.  Instead, they had free pool time without curfew.  Plus, with the blizzard that hit New Ulm, we were 'forced' to have to stay one more night.   Wow!

We also bought a new (new to us) car.  While at MLC, Ben in our 97 Saturn wagon had been sideswiped, actually t-boned, by another car.  He was fine, but the car was totalled. Cindy and I had taken our suburban over to Ben to use and we looked patiently for another car.  At the beginning of February the Lord dropped a gem of a car in our lap: 1997 Buick Le Sabre in mint condition for a drop dead price.  As a matter of fact we had come out hundreds of dollars ahead with the deal.  So, in a way, "Thanks, Ben, for the accident" and seriously, "Thanks, Lord, for keeping Ben safe and for blessing us with a car."

We've also finished the Luther High Basketball season.  Erik and Josh did well on JV, but Erik was also on Varsity and the team bowed out of the WIAA playoffs after two games in.  Good job, LHS!

Since the beginning of March, it's been golf, golf and more golf.  Erik and Josh have video taped themselves and asked Dad for his critique.  After constructively and lovingly shredding their confidence and swings, (not really) - the boys are doing well and have their tools ready to go and to make a run for the state H.S. golf tourney.  They should do very well.

In the meantime,  (sing with me to the tune of hi ho the dairy-o),  To the dentist we go, to the dentist we go, hi ho the dairy-o, to the dentist we go.    Yes, it's that time of the year - teeth cleaning.   Ben and Josh have nothing to worry about, but the rest of the clan.... let's just say that we're helping the dental industry along with their 401k's.

And, now that we're in Lent, that also means extra church services.  This isn't meant to be demeaning. It's actually great to spend the extra time revisiting and being refreshed with the pure good news of Jesus' suffering and death to pay for all sins.  I know that my soul really appreciates the good news.  I'm hoping you are getting to hear it too.

The new sport around here is volleyball.  Both Katy and Nick are on the St. Matthew's girls' and boys' teams respectively. They practice all week long and have their matches at Luther High on Saturdays.  This gives us a great chance to get to La Crosse and do a little needed shopping if needed - I digress.   Anyways, the kids love the game.  Sam wishes he could play - he does with Nick in the driveway.    For some strange reason K and N think they need a brand new VB for the Hansen storehouse of balls.  It is a fun sport to watch and cheer for because it is a quick game with lots of action.

Sorry for no pictures - we tried but all the pictures we tried to up load turned sideways.

With all this said, I'm going to wrap up this edition of the Hansens' Flying Circus.    We certainly are living it, but enjoying it and trying to get a little rest every now and then.
