School Daze...

Summer fun seems to have just begun and we are finding the kids in what we call "school daze". You know the look..."I gotta go back to school, I would rather be home, or fishing, or golfing, or relazing....but then again I miss my friends and can't wait to see them all again"...kind of sound familiar??? Then we get into the year and the daze sets in...this meeting, that event, a game or two and the year turns into a daze...but an enjoyable one at that!! Today Joshua started school as a Freshman at Luther High School . He is excited to be there, will bring much joy to his classes and we will miss him here at home!! They grow up too fast!!

Erik heads back tomorrow. Summer has been busy for him as well. Football has already brought him on the injured reserve list right now, but in a few weeks should be back onthe field!

Benjamin is looking forward to the time at Luther...his last year, with graduation only 9 months away!! Benjamin also starts school tomorrow!! Football season brings school and a ton of fun for Benjamin!!!

And look at this sad face...knowing half of her kid playmates are heading off to school this week, and in just one more week the other half go back!!
We are all going to miss the summer as we head into the school daze!! Oh what joys our family brings to us! Thank the Lord for blessing us with such wonderful children!!

One for the Road

It's about time to hit the hay. It's been a long week. Got home from vacation a week ago Friday. Saturday was a day of recupe from vacation and get ready for church on Sunday. Sunday services were refreshing. Sunday afternoon was busy - cleaning out the garage. Monday was more cleaning and reserving the Budget Rental Truck. Tuesday was a the Day...MOVING DAY...not that the Hansens were moving, but moving my Mom's things to Winona for sale and for keeps. Tuesday actually went really fast. Got home Tuesday and UNLOADED the truck. Wednesday was "get all organized" to start the first of our sales. Today, we had people show up at 6:30am and it was steady until 3pm. Sold a lot of stuff. Mom's things went to good homes. Sale of the Day: Our own Moped. Around 9:00am a private contractor stopped by with good ol' cash money to buy our moped. The guy was like a long tailed cat in a room of rockers. He WANTED THIS MOPED! Couldn't argue with cash. Maybe we took a little less than we wanted, but in the end I didn't need to deal with a rubber check. Tomorrow, if it's not raining, we'll try again. Saturday too.
And oh, by the way, tomorrow, August 7, is a big day in my family - extended and immediate: Uncle Anton Datel was born in 1933 & Mr. Nicholas Hasnen was born in 1999!!! Nick turns the big 1-0 tomorrow. Happy Birthday! Felicidades! Froehliche Geburtstag! Yom Tove, Nicholas! God bless you with many more!

Fishing at the Missouri River

Catfish abound at a site known well by our friend Mark where we were able to take in a load of fish, several mornings while we were in SD. Here is a look at a few of the fishies, that later became supper...kind of like in Jesus time...but this time we took them home and deep fried them...YUMM!!While Mom was the main grub worm lady, and the temps were a bit cool...still there is time to snuggle with my youngest man in my life!!
Josh, the fisherman, loved to catch the fish, but to touch them, well....they are slimey...so Mark was the main fish remover!!

Nicholas too, is a proud fisherman. He got the nack of the snag and helped reel in a number of fish himself...all on his Nemo fishing pole!! The catfish did not mind grabbing his bait too!! In 3 days, Nicholas caught 17 fish in all!!

Tony too is bringing int he fisheys!! Although he did not look estatic on this photo...he too was having fun. Took a bit more to get the fish to bite on his pole...guess maybe the big man pole was not as fun as Nicholas's Nemo pole!!

Stay tuned...more pictures to come of vacation!!!.......................

Sunsets, and moonlit nights are always wonderful on the open fields of South Dakota!!
